Giant calcite drapery in Tham Nam Hoo

Caving Trip 2: Tham Nam Hoo

Thailand’s most beautiful and photogenic cave. If you only have one day… do this!

Cave Lodge runs this full-day adventure caving tour in the dry season only (October to June). Please ask us for more information.

An excellent opportunity to go deep into Thailand’s prettiest cave, adorned with awesome calcite formations. This is a world-class cave with one of the best decorated stream passages that can be visited anywhere in the world.

We can push in over 3.5 km into this long, wet and cool cave (around 7 km in total, returning the same way). The trip involves about 40 minutes driving each way and a one-hour steep walk (up on the way back) through very nice forest.

Inside, after a small entrance, the cave is big – huge in places. There is a lot of wading, a few short swims and scrambling over rocks. We spend around 4–5 hours underground. The caving is fairly easy with no difficult or dangerous climbs. When possible, we float along the stream with lifejackets.

Bring your camera or phone to take some awesome shots in this extremely well-decorated cave!

Tham Nam Hoo was first explored on 6 January 1986, led by John, with guests from Cave Lodge.
