Trekking

Colourful hill tribe villages dot the forested mountains of our district, Pang Mapha. From Cave Lodge, you can easily visit Lisu, Lahu, Karen and Shan villages. One and multi-day trips with local, TAT-registered guides are available from the Lodge. For those with a sense of adventure, we can supply maps, advice and a packed lunch so you can explore some of these friendly villages by yourself. It’s fun to team up with some of our other guests, trek to a Karen or Lahu village and meet the fascinating tribal people. The scenery in our region is the most spectacular in Nth Thailand, with white and red limestone peaks rising above forested mountains and deep valleys. Despite the rapid modernisation of the lowlands, the highland villagers still retain much of their traditional lifestyle and the distinct culture of their tribe.

As we do not sell our treks through agents here in Thailand and we can offer small group adventures at a reasonable cost. We stay in friendly villages far away from over-trekked routes. The only drawback with this is that we need a minimum of 4 people to run a 2 or 3-day trek. So if you are a group of friends who want to do a trek with us it is very easy to arrange. Often there are other guests staying a the Lodge you can join as well, otherwise, if you would like to go on one of our trekking trips and have a date in mind you can email us and put your details on our Facebook page to link up with other people interested in going trekking.
