Choose one of the following routes

Route 1: Hair Cave – a great taste of the undeveloped underground

A fun cave with some beautiful formations, colours and passage shapes. Get ready to slide and crawl in the entrance. You will see cute bats and, if lucky, harmless racer snakes. A very nice cave for photography using our guides’ LED lights (1 km in and out). Perfect for adventurous souls who don’t mind getting a little dirty.

Total walking distance: 4 km – easy walk, mainly flat, nice forest.

Route 2: Xmas Cave – nature’s underground cathedral

Step into a breathtaking, massive cavern packed with spectacular stalactites and ancient rock formations (700 m in and out). A visual feast for photographers and nature lovers.

Total walking distance: 5–7 km on roads and small trails, some uphill, great scenery.

Route 3: Huge Sacred Well Cave (Holy Water Cave)

Trek deep into a huge dry cave with a revered natural well. The cave is a prehistoric living site and has a very impressive entrance and borehole tunnel (1 km in and out).

Total walking distance: 7–8 km – a relatively challenging walk, plenty of uphill, awesome karst scenery, some nice forest and fields.

Route 4: Big Knob – great viewpoint and cave

A limestone pinnacle with a fantastic view, next to Tham Lod village. The knob is hollow, and the surprisingly large cave inside contains a few remains of prehistoric coffins.

Total walking distance: 5 km – walking from the Lodge, then up a forested hill to the start of the climb/scramble up the rugged limestone rocks to the peak. Involves non-technical rock climbing.
