Caving Trip 5: Red Cliff Cave

We drive about 1 hour 20 minutes, then walk half an hour uphill to the first cave, Red Cliff. We push 1.5 km through the mountain to a “hidden valley” with an awesome 300 m high overhanging cliff and deep forest, a habitat of mountain goats and deer.

We visit 2 more caves with prehistoric coffins (over 1,700 years old), containing some of the best-preserved, huge teakwood coffins in the district, plus another massive cave with rock art. There is some very steep walking up to these places.

We return via Red Cliff Cave – another 1.5 km of fun caving. This cave has one low, small section that can be wet (up to your neck, with a small space for your head to pass through… everyone loves it).
